Our website address is: https://www.linkedindian.com. We are LinkedIndian, a resource hub and community platform dedicated to supporting Indian professionals and the diaspora in the United Kingdom.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form (such as name, email address, and the comment itself), and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website (for example, if guest authors provide images), you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
Comments: If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Login: If you visit our login page (for administrators or future registered users), we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser. When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me” (for login), your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
Publishing: If you edit or publish an article (as an author/administrator), an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Newsletter Subscription
If you choose to subscribe to our newsletter, we will collect your name (if provided) and email address. This information is used solely for the purpose of sending you the LinkedIndian newsletter, which may include updates, new articles, community news, and occasional relevant promotions or information from trusted partners (this will be clearly indicated).
We will use a third-party email marketing service (e.g., Mailchimp) to manage our newsletter and send emails. Your data will be shared with this service for that purpose. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link provided in every email. The privacy policy of our chosen email marketing service will also be available for your review.
CV and Career Services
If you use one of our CV or career services (the free Career Readiness Scan, the CV Readiness Report, the CV Rewrite, the Bundle, or our one-to-one premium service), we collect the information you provide to deliver that service. This may include your name, contact details, your uploaded CV, a target job description if you provide one, and your answers to our career questionnaire (including details of your work history, achievements, education, and skills).
We ask that you do not include sensitive personal information in your submission, such as details of your health, religious beliefs, or trade union membership. We deliberately do not ask for your age or gender, and we do not include either on any CV we produce for you.
How we use this information
We use the information you provide solely to generate the report or CV you have purchased. Parts of this process are carried out using an AI service provided by Anthropic. Your data is sent to Anthropic to generate your content and is not used to train their models. We review the output before it is sent to you.
Where your information is stored
Your uploaded documents and the reports or CVs we generate for you are stored securely in our Google Drive. Your order details are tracked in a private Google Sheet, accessible only to us.
Payment information
Payments are handled entirely by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details at any point, they are processed directly by Stripe under their own privacy policy.
How long we keep your information
We retain your uploaded CV, questionnaire answers, and the reports or CVs we produce for twelve months from the date of your order, so we can assist you with any follow-up questions. After this period, this data is deleted. You can request earlier deletion at any time, see “What rights you have over your data” below.
Marketing
Purchasing a CV service does not automatically sign you up to our newsletter. If you’d like to receive it, you’ll be asked separately and can unsubscribe at any time.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos from YouTube, social media posts, maps). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of these third-party websites.
Who we share your data with
Service Providers: We may share your data with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in operating our website, such as our email marketing platform for the newsletter, analytics providers (like Google Analytics), and spam detection services for comments. These providers are obligated to protect your data and use it only for the services they provide to us.
Career Service Providers: If you use one of our CV or career services, your information is shared with the third-party services that make this possible: Jotform (to collect your submission), Anthropic (to help generate your report or CV), and Stripe (to process payment). Each of these providers is only given the information needed to perform their specific role.
Password Resets: If you request a password reset (for registered users, if applicable), your IP address will be included in the reset email.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
How long we retain your data
Comments: If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
Newsletter Subscribers: If you subscribe to our newsletter, we will retain your name and email address for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your data will be removed from our active mailing list according to the procedures of our email marketing service provider.
Contact Form Submissions: Information submitted through our contact form is retained for customer service purposes for a reasonable period (e.g., six months to a year) to allow us to respond to your query and for follow-up, but we do not use this information for marketing purposes unless you explicitly consent (e.g., by also signing up for the newsletter).
Registered Users: For users that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, have left comments, or are subscribed to our newsletter, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes (e.g., financial records for any transactions, or data required for legal compliance).
